A Reminiscent Journey

A five fragrant portals collection

A Reminiscent Journey was born from an intimate encounter, intense and brief, whose true meaning would only become clear through the absence of the other - of another.

From that encounter, NOOR was born. Its name was inspired by one of us, whose name means “full moon,” and by the absence of the other: the crack through which the light enters.

NOOR was my very first fragrance creation. Its composition was guided by the warmth of our physical beings, by the scent of an embrace. From the moment the words found their way onto the page, I was taken somewhere deeply personal and, at the same time, strangely universal.

Without me even realizing it, NOOR brought me back to the memory of another embrace. Another encounter, bittersweet, that had somehow become timeless and impossible to forget.

NOOR had its place on the path of my destiny. But it could not exist without LAIL: the night, or more precisely, that special moment just before the sun goes down. A metaphor for the birth of desire, a promise of pleasure. The first chapter, announcing the second. The chapter of presence within absence, of the trace left by a love that continues to live.

Then, at the dawn of a new chapter in my life, came SEHER. The moment when I chose to follow the path of who I was meant to become.

A stay on the Island of the Gods, where I embraced the energy of Taksu and found my way back to wholeness, free to move towards my destiny.

But destiny can never be separated from what came before us. It carries the memory of the past, and the need to reconnect with our ancestors, with the roots that hold us firmly, even when we are not always aware of them.

My own roots reach deep into Morocco: into the memory of a beloved grandfather who died far too soon; into the lasting mark of the desert wind as it moves through the maze of narrow streets; into the smell of spices, the soft smoke of incense and tobacco, and the sweetness of honey.

This fourth chapter became almost like an astral journey - symbolic and deeply personal. A journey that would finally anchor me within myself and give me the courage to move towards a fifth and final olfactory chapter, which I would call MAHR.

The chapter of devotion. The moment when, finally, I chose myself.

Sovereign. Serene.

I found it fascinating to explore the hidden paths of my emotions, memories, desires and hopes through our subtle sense of smell. I became fascinated by its great complexity and by the delicate way it can read and interpret the smells we encounter throughout our lives.

There is, of course, what we often call the Madeleine de Proust effect: the almost magical way a smell can suddenly take us back to a place, a person or another time in our lives.

A smell can bring back a childhood memory, a journey, a loved one, or a moment we thought we had forgotten.

Our world of smell is almost endless. It is closely connected to the parts of the brain that hold our emotions and memories.

But beyond the smells we consciously notice - coffee, for example - our sense of smell can also pick up more subtle signals. It can tell us something about the emotional state of the people around us, about our feelings towards them, and sometimes even about the connection we feel with another person.

This novelette “A Reminiscent Journey” is therefore more than the story of my own journey. It is also an invitation to the reader: to explore the richness of their own unique world of smell.

Such an exploration can help us understand and balance our emotions. Certain smells can bring calm, help us feel grounded, or give us a sense of safety. They can open a door to our own memories, taking us on a journey through time.

They can bring back childhood, distant places, journeys, encounters, or moments that changed us. In doing so, they can enrich our inner world and strengthen the feeling of who we are.

More simply, becoming aware of smell can also make everyday life more pleasurable. It can make us notice the taste and smell of food more closely, turning an ordinary meal or simple moment into a much richer sensory experience.

It can bring us back to the present moment: to really notice nature, life, textures, and places. To be more fully there. To experience a greater sense of awareness and well-being in our everyday lives.

And perhaps, most importantly, it can make us more aware of the invisible ways in which human beings connect with one another.

Our sense of smell is part of how we experience other people. It can play a role in empathy, attraction, and, of course, falling in love. The familiar smell of someone we love, of a place, or even of a home, can bring an immediate and deep feeling of comfort - sometimes before we even understand why.

This is why I call myself an alchemist of memories.

I put my nose, my intuition and my mind at the service of your lives, your encounters and your memories, to explore the invisible language of scent.
